This policy explains what personal data Snowboard Guide collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It is written to be read rather than to be skimmed past.

Who is responsible for your data

Snowboard Guide is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us at Contact@snowboard-guide.com, or by post at the publishing address given on the contact page.

What we collect, and why

1. Information you give us directly

If you email us or use the contact form, we receive whatever you send: your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use it to answer you and to keep a record of corrections. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a publication and responding to readers.

Note that the contact form on this site has no server-side handler. Until a mail service is connected, nothing you type into the form is transmitted or stored anywhere — the page tells you so and directs you to email instead.

2. Server log data

This site is served as static files through a content delivery network. The CDN provider processes standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — to deliver content and to defend against abuse. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, available website.

3. Analytics

We do not currently run a third-party analytics product, and we do not set advertising cookies of our own. If we add privacy-respecting analytics in future, this policy will be updated before it goes live, and the cookie notice will list what is set.

Cookies

See the separate cookie notice for a full description of cookies and similar technologies. In summary: this site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own, and the only cookies you are likely to encounter are ones set by a retailer or affiliate network after you follow an outbound commercial link.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for marketing. Data may be processed by:

our hosting and content delivery provider, for serving the site;
our email provider, for correspondence you initiate;
retailers and affiliate networks, but only on their own sites and only after you click through to them, governed by their own privacy policies.

International transfers

Our infrastructure providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers rely on the UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

Correspondence: up to 3 years, so we can track corrections and recurring issues.
Server logs: per the CDN provider's retention schedule, typically days to weeks.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

be informed about how your data is used;
access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
have inaccurate data corrected;
have data erased where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it;
restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests;
data portability, where processing is based on consent or contract;
withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing.

Complaining

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

This site is aimed at adults buying snowboard equipment. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will also be noted on the about page.

This policy is drafted to reflect how the site actually operates and is written to be accurate for an independent affiliate publisher in the UK. It should be reviewed by a qualified professional before being relied on as legal advice.
